AND NOW: Who Produces? is a workshop for those who want to start working in performing arts production in an effective, affective, and creative way. We will go through everything involved in bringing a project to life — schedule, team, budget, grant applications, spreadsheets, unforeseen events — and also look at production as a space for invention. I believe that those who produce also create, invent paths, and make decisions that directly impact the scene. Throughout the workshop, I will share tools, tips, and experiences that show how producing can be an inventive act. Shall we?


Instructor: Giulia Baptista


Performing artist, dancer, producer, and lighting and sound operator, she has been part of Macarenando Dance Concept (Porto Alegre/RS) since 2016. She holds a degree in Dance and a Master's degree in Performing Arts from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), with a distinguished career in the production and technical operation of dance and theater performances. She received the Açorianos Dance Award in the Collective Action category in 2021 along with Macarenando Dance Concept, the Açorianos Dance Production Award in 2024, and, in 2025, the Olhares da Cena Dance Production Award. As a producer, she has participated in several relevant projects over the last decade. Among them, the following stand out: Stuffed Zucchinis (2016), Dance the Letter... Caetano (2017), and House of Fear (2017), all by Macarenando Dance Concept; in addition to the show Deviation, by Muovere Dance Company, which was part of the national Palco Giratório circuit in 2024; the TECHLAB project, funded by Funarte in 2024; and the shows Where is Cassandra?, by Cassandra Calabouço (2023), and Fish, directed by Camila Vergara (2024). In 2025, she was responsible for producing the touring of the show Where is Cassandra? in Rio de Janeiro, as part of the Porto Alegre em Cena festival program, totaling 20 performances. Currently, she is part of the production team for the 32nd edition of the Porto Alegre em Cena festival, reaffirming her continuous and expressive work in the contemporary performing arts scene.
